In our current culture, the names of God and Jesus Christ have been reduced to curse words. Generations are growing up believing that those names are mere words used only for dramatic emphasis, in conjunction with acts of violence, as depicted in the movies. If the scene is deemed
to be "riveting," rounds of applause, rave reviews, red carpets, riches and rewards abound.
Called to Unify
Crisis Chaplains, in accord with the Apostle Paul, calls the church to be unified in the name of Christ. Crisis Chaplains calls on individuals, groups, communities, and worship services to unify in prayers. Crisis Chaplains calls on the unified body of Christ to use the Internet, Facebook and social media - a Faith Network - to call on the name of the Lord specifically relating to crime, violence, terrorism, and for the protection of our citizens, and those serving in the military and public safety.
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you,
but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
Is Christ divided? ...lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
1 Corinthians 1
Called to Share and to Save
Unity in prayer is the foundation for building Faith Networks. Our response to Christ’s call to unify and share the word of God is our response to crime, violence and terrorism. What seems foolish to others is faith to us.
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18
[Jesus] said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved.
Mark 16:15-16
And everyone who calls on
the name of the LORD will be saved.
Joel 2:32 - Acts 2:21 - Romans 10:13
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?
As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Romans 10:14-17
Called to Sacrifice
Christ freely gave of Himself to be sacrificed for others. We call on the name of the Lord, and He calls us by name to serve, share, save and sacrifice, in the name of the Lord.
God presented Christ as a sacrifice.
Romans 3:25
Grace and peace to you from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins.
Galatians 1:3-4
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy,
to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.
Romans 12:1
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
Isaiah 43:1
Called to Serve
Crisis Chaplains response to violence, that has also breached the shelter of the sanctuary, is to call Christians from the confines and comforts of the church to the crimes and conflicts in the community. The commission of crime, violence and terrorism falls under the jurisdiction of law enforcement. Christians are under Christ’s commission to share the gospel, which transcends jurisdictional boundaries. Christians must mobilize the strength of unity and the Lord’s strategic placement of churches and congregations in the cause of Christ and for communities in crisis. They do so, by sending and supporting experienced and trained Crisis Chaplains.
